Swim-A-Thon

Swim-A-Thon is a fundraiser for our club and monies generated go towards covering pool rental costs. Families have the option to collect pledges from independent donors or pay all or part of the commitment themselves. Note, only independent donors are eligible for tax receipts.

Swim-A-Thon is the major national fundraising project in which most affiliated clubs in Canada participate. It promotes and finances amateur competitive swimming. The purpose of Swim-A-Thon is to raise money for the club through swimmer’s participation in a marathon swim through obtaining pledges per length swum or a pre-determined amount. Swim Ontario charges 5% to process tax receipts (for eligible donors only). Part of this fee goes back to Swim Ontario to help offset their costs and support training camps and travel teams.

Below is a list of some of the new rules that apply to Swim-A-Thon

  • All monies collected must be submitted to Swim Ontario regardless if raised by independent donors or paid by parents. (note; the 5% is only applies to funds raised by independent pledges)
  • Monies raised must go to the club in its entirety with no benefit to individual family accounts.
  • Swim-A-Thon commitment amounts cannot be part of the registration fee schedule.
  • Only independent, third party donors are eligible for tax receipts.

Swim-A-Thon amounts collected will be due April 30. The top fundraiser for Swim-A-Thon will be recognized at the yearly awards event and a prize awarded.
